Digital Transformation and the SAP Cloud

Enabled through cheaper hardware costs and a quicker acceptance of new technologies, the Digital Transformation has an increasingly strong impact on our society in the recent years.
This trend puts former competitive advantages, which companies have been building up over the past decades, on the test bench.

One challenge is the pressure on businesses to innovate. End users and customers expect continuous improvement and new features in the product portfolio.
To ensure smooth running of core processes, on the one hand and new processes and products on the other hand, the use of SAP Cloud can be a solution. The cloud offers the possibility to transform the ERP – System landscape to a bi-modal architecture. E.g. new processes can access master data and send results to the productive system without endangering the core processes of the business.

The “System of Innovation” can be hosted on the cloud, on which e.g. an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) is run and iterated. These processes are isolated from the core system.
Via the SAP Cloud Connector, a safe connection is established between the cloud and the ERP System. Through this connection a new process can be tested in operations without exposing the Productive System to any danger.

At XEPTUM the usage of SAP Cloud was already successfully tested. For an internal project a Fiori-App, for time confirmations of consultants, has been developed in the cloud and implemented in the S/4HANA system via the SAP Cloud Connector.
